Cameroon Finally gives coach Lavagne a Contract
Frenchman Denis Lavagne, that has been training Cameroon's national team since October, finally signed a 1-year contract using the government on Monday.
“Your primary task is to qualify the Lions for that 2013 African Nations Cup and also the World Cup in South America in 2014. This contract is renewable," stated Sports and Sports and Physical Education minister Adoum Garoua.
The minister stated anything runs until November.
Lavagne, the previous coach of Cameroon champions Cotton Sport, required over from Spaniard Javier Clemente who had been sacked following Cameroon's failure to entitle to the 2012 Nations Cup, but wasn't a well known appointment.
Former Cameroon striker Roger Millar was among individuals who criticized your decision, labeling the 48-year-old from Beziers unqualified and generate a committee to unseat the football federation executive.
But FECAFOOT secretary general Tombi a Roko Sidiki stated: "Denis Lavagne has met the primary criteria in our federation that was searching for a coach that has lived in Cameroon and it has full mastery in our championship to ensure that he is able to choose youthful local talent to suit in to the national squad."
The signing from the contract on Monday came 2 days after Cameroon beat the Democratic Republic of Congo 1- in Yaounde in the beginning their World Cup being approved campaign.
They next meet Libya on Sunday.
Lavagne has been around control of six unbeaten games since overtaking as coach.
In lots of African nations, the federal government utilizes national team coaches since the local football federation doesn't have enough money to pay for them.
